Commissioned and premiered in 2016 by the British Columbia (BC) Boys Choir. Using the poem by GK Chesterton, Child of the Snows paints the picture of the darker side of the Christmas story. The 2-part voicing can be sung by either SA or TB voices.
Finding the message from difficult experiences and telling the story is difficult but can be empowering. These words and personal experience serve as an inspiration for writing “The Wind will Carry My Song”, a SATB choral composition.
Based on the poem by Sir Charles G.D. Roberts, this piece uses garden imagery to paint a story about a conventional person seduced by the appearance of the free spirited and non-committal “Carmenesque” person.
The poem by Emily Dickinson has a strong message of love that is particularly poignant for our times. A small amount of love is better than a large amount of “Hate” or “enmity.”
