“O Little Rose, O Dark Rose” is filled with both sweet and dark elements.
Described as “achingly beautiful” by some conductors.
Robert’s poem uses garden imagery to paint a story about a conventional person seduced by the appearance of the free spirited and non-committal “Carmenesque” person.
The composition was premiered and recorded by Chor Leoni Men’s Choir (Barbara Pentland Award – Canadian Music Centre) and recorded by Britain’s Gesualdo Six for their CD (FADING).
Both the TTBB and SATB are published through Cypress Music Publishers, Vancouver, Canada.
