As a conductor, I’m always looking for spirited upbeat pieces. This accessible SATB version of a French traditional melody, “Pomme de Reinette” is meant to be lighthearted and humorous, adding an element of fun to performances.
The song would work well in cultural, seasonal (fall), nature, environment (connection to the natural world), harvest and abundance (food oriented) concerts.
I first learned this fun energetic song in my Kodály studies and taught it each year, as a Kodály
music specialist in the school system, Prince George, BC, Canada.
